International Union of Book Communities, Museum of exlibris and mini book MSK, together with the Russian Association of exlibris announce an international contest “Ex Libris 2024”.
The contest will be held in 3 nominations:
- “Learn to protect the Motherland from Heroes”
- “Where the Law was born”
- Free topic
The contest mainly focuses on sparking the interest in book-plating and conventional classic techniques of mass-production printing among the creative youth.
Conditions of the contest:
- Allowed for participation are students and graduates of creative universities under 26 years old;
- Every participant can submit up to 5 book plates each in two copies, made in the period between 2023 and 2024. An obligatory element of the work is the word (“EX LIBRIS”) or its equivalents – «из книг» (from books), «из библиотеки» (from library with the full name of the master, name of the library, organization specified.
- The works should be made in the following techniques (black-and-white or colored nature as per artist`s desire): a) wood-cut engraving (xylography); b) copperplate printing, calligraphic etching (dry needle, aquatint, soft-ground etching and etc.) zincography; c) lithography; d) linocut, plastic, plexiglas, cardboard engraving; e) silk screening.
The works should be submitted before May 15. The ownership over the works submitted is transferred to the Museum of exlibris and can be used in exhibition activity, be displayed in periodicals and other other editions, Internet, and etc.
The works will not be returned to authors!
