Throughout the world, there is a steady trend towards digitalization, entailing the introduction of information systems and the accumulation of huge amounts of valuable information in them.

According to the international research company Statista, the total amount of information created by mankind is estimated at 50 zettabytes (50 sextillion bytes) and will increase to 175 zettabytes by 2025, that is, more than three times in 5 years. A significant share in this volume is personal data, information related to commercial, state secrets, critical information infrastructure, as well as a civilian digital footprint that can be used to compile a personality profile.

Information Security is an educational program in the field of information technology. The disciplines of the program study together technologies, people, information and processes, and aim to ensure the continuity of their activities in the context of the constant presence of threats. The interdisciplinary training program includes aspects of law, politics, human activity, ethics, risk management, computer science.

Information security is based on information protection activities - ensuring its confidentiality, accessibility and integrity, as well as preventing any compromise. The tasks of cybersecurity specialists include ensuring the security of information systems from malicious cyber attacks, often aimed at stealing important confidential information or intercepting the organization’s internal systems.

Information security, as a sphere of employment, has developed and grown in recent years. Many professional specializations arose in it, for example, such as security of networks and related infrastructure, protection of software and databases, audit of information systems, business continuity planning, identification of electronic records and computer forensics. Information security professionals have very stable employment and high demand in the labor market. The world is facing an ongoing and growing shortage of qualified cybersecurity professionals and practitioners. Both state and non-governmental sources predict that by 2022, nearly 1.8 million posts related to cybersecurity will remain unfilled. Demand for professionals in this field is sharp, growing every year.

The educational program is suitable for graduates of both the Moscow Polytechnic University and other universities, this year and earlier. The first semester is reserved for general training in information security at an advanced level and immersion in the profession, the next - an in-depth study of cybersecurity aspects. The fourth semester is allocated for internship, implementation and defense of graduation qualification work.

The program includes passing a distributed practice - for a semester without interruption from training. The main objective of the program’s practices is to choose the topic of the future graduate qualification work, its research and development. Classes are held at the most convenient time for students to combine with work.
